When Work For Your Beer initially launched in December 2016, there were about 60 weekly recurring beer fitness activities going on around Charlotte. Since then, that number has climbed to nearly 90 per week—and growing!
More and more breweries, bottle shops, restaurants, and even fitness studios are interested in hopping on the beer fitness trend, and many of them have reached out to Work For Your Beer to get a new class or club started.
That's why we are so excited to have brought an event coordinating (and digital marketing) expert onto the team! Meet Brielle, Work For Your Beer's events coordinator, and learn how she's working to grow Charlotte's beer fitness community.
Name: Brielle Stephenson
Occupation: Digital Marketing Manager
Neighborhood in Charlotte: Uptown
When I moved to Charlotte earlier this year, I was already familiar with the local brewery scene. I knew a few of the breweries offered fitness classes, which are two of my favorite hobbies (fitness and craft beer). I searched online to find an all-inclusive calendar of the brewery fitness activities and found Work For Your Beer!
What made you want to be a part of the Work For Your Beer community?
Work For Your Beer offers a great connection of our local Charlotte breweries and fitness enthusiasts. This community was lacking a home base before the website was started. I really enjoy being a part of this community so I naturally wanted to be a part of Work For Your Beer, who helped bring this community together.
What made you excited to accept the Events Coordinator position?
Work For Your Beer has had an amazing first year rallying the beer and fitness fans. I was excited to join the already awesome team and help bring the Work For Your Beer movement further through events.
What does the Events Coordinator position entail?
As Events Coordinator, I will work with various fitness and community organizations to plan fitness events similar to a brewery yoga class or run club. Some events will be private organization events and some will be open to the public for all to enjoy. My goal is to widen the reach of the “workout and then enjoy a beverage” experience.
What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Work For Your Beer team?
The Work For Your Beer team has so much passion for the industry and future growth of the community. My favorite thing is all the creativity and passion that radiates from the team members and being part of that.
What is your biggest goal for Work For Your Beer?
My biggest goal for Work For Your Beer is to continue to grow the love of locally crafted beverages and fitness and enjoying them together.
What fitness activities do you personally take part in?
I enjoy participating in a wide variety of fitness activities and I love trying a new class or experience. Some of my favorite go to activities are running, yoga, kickboxing and bootcamp classes.
What is your favorite local beer in Charlotte?
Free Range "Two Wild & Crazy Guys," a seasonal coffee wild ale. Hopefully, it becomes a year-round brew soon (hint hint, Free Range Brewing!)
