There may not be anything more quintessentially “summer” than cherries, and the folks at Seaboard Brewery seem to agree. If you’re searching for a perfectly refreshing summer beer meant to be enjoyed on a patio, then a cherry infused beer may be just what you need.

Read on to learn more about our beer of the week, the brewery that crafted it, and the events they've got to offer Charlotte's (and Matthews') active beer-lovers.

The Beer: Cherry Silver Meteor IPA

Close your eyes and imagine the cherry flavor of "the legendary soft drink of the South," Cheerwine. Now, imagine adding that flavor to a West Coast style IPA. Seaboard Brewery created exactly the beer you're imagining by infusing their "Silver Meteor IPA" with cherries for their limited quantity Experimental Batch release this week. The result is a 6% ABV brew that's part hoppy, part tart, and totally perfect for summer.

The Brewery: Seaboard Brewery

If anyone tells you that you can’t have it all, they’ve never been to Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar in Matthews. As the only brewery in the city, it also boasts Matthews’ largest patio, the most extensive international beer selection, a wine bar, and a weekly limited Experimental Batch release.

And when we say limited release, we mean limited. These experimental batches are made small and once they’re gone, they’re gone!

But if you can’t make it to Seaboard for the releases, there’s no need to worry. Seaboard releases all experimental beers to their sister stores, Carolina Beer Temple and Temple Mojo Growler Shop, for more opportunities for us to enjoy.

The Events: Yoga, Bike & Brews, Bootcamp & Run Club

Between Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar, Carolina Beer Temple, and Temple Mojo Growler Shop, there is a full week’s schedule of various fitness classes for you to choose from in Matthews!

There’s Craft Yoga at Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar on Thursdays at 7 PM. $5 gets you the class and a beer!

There’s also the Sip’n’Sweat Mini-Bootcamp at Temple Mojo on Thursdays at 7 PM, where $10 gets you the class itself and a beer. Or you can get zen at Temple Mojo yoga on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7 PM, where once again you can get a beer and the class for $10. If you’re looking for something free, you can join the Temple Mojo Bike & Brews for a 26 or 30 mile bike ride on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6 PM, starting and ending at the taproom.

Or you could stop by Carolina Beer Temple run club on Tuesdays at 6:45 PM. You can choose from one, three, or five mile routes starting and ending at the taproom, totally free of charge. Unless you choose to get a beer after, which we definitely recommend!
