Beer of the Week: Victory Brewing Company, "Home Grown Dry-Hopped Lager"
Jul 21, 2018
Whether or not you've checked out Brewers at 4001 Yancey yet (and we hope you have!), you're probably already familiar with Victory Brewing Company. They've been in the brewing business since 1996, putting fun twists on traditional beer styles for more than 20 years.
The creative minds at Victory joined forces with the innovative folks at Southern Tier Brewing Company to open Brewers at 4001 Yancey, a gathering place in Lower South End (or "LoSo") where craft beer fans can enjoy everything they love about beer, all in one space.
You can choose from more than 120 tap handles featuring between 35 and 40 rotating beers from Southern Tier and Victory, including well-known Victory and Southern Tier beers as well as locally inspired brews.
Not sure where to start? We've recommend our Beer of the Week, Victory Brewing Company's "Home Grown Dry-Hopped Lager." Read on to learn more about the beer itself, the venue, and the events they've got to offer.
The Beer: "Home Grown Lager"
If you've been looking for a downright drinkable beer that doesn't require an occasion—one you can enjoy anytime, anywhere regardless of the season—this is it. This 4.8% ABV dry-hopped lager is packed with all kinds of juicy, home grown, American whole-flower hops (including Azacca, Citra, Mosaic, Centennial, Cascade, and Chinook). It's hoppy, refreshing, and timeless. And yes, you're going to need a refill.
The Space: Brewers at 4001 Yancey
The 28,000 sq. ft. space that is now Brewers at 4001 Yancey was once home to Bowers Fibers, a textile company in operation since 1946. Now, it's a fully functioning brewery featuring an inviting community taproom with private, semi-private, and public spaces both indoors and outdoors (including three gigantic dog-friendly patios!) fit for any occasion.
They offer year-round and seasonal Victory and Southern Tier beers, of course, as well as craft spirit cocktails and wine. Plus, they've got a full-service culinary team and a menu inspired by their beer line-up, ranging from appetizers to desserts and beyond.
The Events: Sunday Funday
Every week, you can make your way to Brewers at 4001 Yancey (either driving and parking in their lot, or taking the light rail to the Scaleybark Station) for Sunday Funday. Stop by between 11 AM and 7 PM to listen to live music, eat delicious food, grab a few beers, and round out your weekend with a day of casual fun either inside the comfortable taproom or outside on one of the pup-friendly patios.
Be sure to keep an eye on their Facebook page to see what's going on at Brewers at 4001 Yancey each week!
