Whether on these designated "holidays" or throughout the rest of the winter months, spending money on ourselves and our loved ones has become such an ingrained part of the holiday season. But what about giving back to others in need? When do we make the time to do that? That's where #GivingTuesday comes in.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (so, November 28 this year). Like many other major cities in the country, Charlotte has developed its own campaign dedicated to giving back to local and regional nonprofits.
#GivingTuesdayCLT is a local response to the global #GivingTuesday campaign, brought to the Queen City by SHARE Charlotte. The campaign runs for a two-week period leading up to Giving Tuesday itself, working with local businesses all over Charlotte to raise funds and awareness for nonprofits in our area. In fact, in 2016, #GivingTuesdayCLT was the largest community-wide #GivingTuesday campaign in history, raising $7.2 million for 174 Charlotte nonprofits.
This year, SHARE Charlotte's goal for #GivingTuesdayCLT is to raise $10 million for more than 230 local nonprofits to increase overall giving in Charlotte, heighten awareness of our local nonprofit community, and defend our city's title as the largest community-wide campaign in #GivingTuesday history. Here's how you can help.

Donate To A Cause You Care About
Head to givingtuesdayclt.org between November 14 and November 28 to look through the list of 230+ nonprofits participating in this year's campaign, find one that speaks to you, and submit a donation. Can't seem to choose? You can donate directly to the #GivingTuesdayCLT general fund, and they'll split your donation up for you wherever it's needed most.
Whether you're able to contribute hundreds of dollars to a cause or even just skip your morning coffee runs for a week and give $10, your donation will make a difference in the lives of others in the Queen City community.
