The Perfect Weekend in Stowe, Vermont

If you’re dreaming of a New England escape packed with scenic hikes, maple syrup tastings, world-class craft beer, and a cozy cabin vibe straight out of a movie, Stowe, Vermont is your spot. From our spacious Airbnb tucked away in the Sugarbush forest to the various local craft breweries, here’s everything we did (and everything you should add to your own Vermont itinerary!).

Where We Stayed: A Hidden Mountain Hideaway in Stowe

Mountain Hideaway Airbnb – Book it here

Our home base was tucked away on 12 private acres surrounded by lilac bushes, wildflowers, and a babbling brook that ran straight through the backyard. Think: modern interior with a wraparound porch surrounded by greenery.

This Airbnb was the perfect place to unplug and reconnect — or plug in and remote work. As remote tech workers by day, we set up shop and got a ton done during the day (with valley views that beat any office window). At night, we curled up on the porch with a drink and stargazed. We could have stayed away from civilation this whole trip in this spot — it was very private & quiet.

The space was perfectly designed for both adventure and downtime. We loved:

  • The mudroom (ideal for stashing ski or hiking gear)

  • Two bright and airy bedrooms (we stayed in the one with a reading nook!)

  • A rainfall shower with mood lighting and a Bluetooth speaker fan (!)

One of our favorite moments? An early morning walk through the woods behind the cabin, where we hiked to a small waterfall on the property. The soft sound of the brook and dappled sunlight through the trees felt like something out of a fairytale.

Right next door is the Nebraska Knoll Sugar Farm. We wandered over for a free maple syrup tasting, explored the evaporator room, and picked up a few bottles to bring home. Their syrup comes from the very trees in our backyard — and yes, you can taste the difference!

What We Did: Waterfalls, Ice Cream, & Forest Trails

There are plenty of things to do in Stowe, Vermont. While we were only in town for a couple of days (two of which we worked from cabin), here’s what we did get to do!

Hiked to Bingham Falls
Just a short drive from our Airbnb, the Bingham Falls loop was an easy 1.5-mile trail that led us through lush forest and ended with a stunning cascade of glacial water. Pro tip: wear sturdy shoes — it can get slippery by the falls!

Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour
You have to make the stop in Waterbury for the full Ben & Jerry’s experience. The tour walks you through their history, production process, and, of course, ends in the Flavor Room. We grabbed the peanut butter cookie dough to-go and had to get ourselves a milkshake before checking out the flavor graveyard (RIP to all of the past B&J flavors).

Where We Drank: The Vermont Beer Scene Did Not Disappoint

Vermont has long been a mecca for craft beer lovers, and the breweries we hit on this trip were next-level. Here were our top picks:

The Alchemist (Stowe)
Home of the legendary Heady Topper, but we’re shouting out Just Say Gay — an incredible brew with an equally beautiful message (and design). Mortal Sin and Dark also hit hard in the best way.

Freak Folk Bier (Waterbury)
This one’s for the true beer nerds. Experimental, flavorful, and unapologetically creative. It’s a small space, but the vibe is warm and inviting.

Lot 6 (South Burlington)
A newer spot with killer variety. The sours and saisons were standout, and we loved how open and friendly the team was.

Bonus: Boyden Valley Winery
If you’re more wine than beer, this winery delivers rustic charm with serious flavor. Try their ice cider — trust us.

Where We Ate: Comfort Food Meets Craft Flavor

Prohibition Pig (Waterbury)
BBQ meets beer hall. Get the burnt ends and the mac & cheese (trust us). We grabbed their Pride Month cocktail, which included their in-house DIPA for a unique flavor profile!

The Friendly Toast (Burlington)
This eclectic diner is the brunch of your dreams. Quirky décor, great drinks, and tasty breakfast items. We ordered the Monte Madame (a unique blend of a Monte Cristo & a Croque Madame), as well as their signature breakfast sandwich (with a cold brew — coffee, that is!).

Stowe felt like stepping into a postcard: mountains, maple syrup, craft beer, and the perfect mix of cozy cabin life and outdoor adventure. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, remote working from a sugarbush hideaway, or sipping world-class brews under the stars, this Vermont escape checks all the boxes.

Cheers to getting outside this summer!
